Jerome Washington
Born and raised in Albion, Michigan. Jerome at an early age developed a love for drawing using family and friends as models. While living in Grand Rapids, Michigan he began drawing children in schools and continued it when moving back to Albion.
Jerome's love for life and people can be seen in his portrait drawing of people both young and old alike. "I think it's great that I can use my God-given talent to bring a smile to someone's face when they see a portrait drawing of themselves. With the influx of violence and unhappiness among so many people today, I try to bring a little sunshine in peoples lives when I draw them or they come to view my work."
"I enjoy drawing children in particular because it helps kids to focus on the positive part of their lives instead of the negative part. Kids have enough going against them as it is." As a father of seven and born into a family of 14, Jerome has had lots of chance to experience child rearing in action. Because of this, Jerome has devised a simple and enjoyable project that joins his two interests of art and children together. Kids need to be exposed to both art and the artist today, especially the African American artist.
Jerome provides gift caricatures and portrait art in a variety of medium: watercolor, pastels, and pencil.
